The product used in this application is our SM4D with ProfiDRIVE interface: a highly versatile stepper motor available in multiple frame sizes (Nema 17, Nema 23, and Nema 24) featuring integrated electronics. It supports the main fieldbus protocols such as ProfiNET/ProfiDRIVE, CANopen, EtherCAT, Modbus RTU, and Modbus TCP, and offers closed-loop control with incremental or absolute encoders.
This type of solution is increasingly appreciated by machine builders as it significantly reduces wiring requirements and ensures quick and easy installation. It can also be employed in several other applications, such as format change or plate orientation.
